Leading with love to the right ways

The Lord said concerning Abraham in the Bible, Genesis 18 verse 19 “For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him”; we are descendant of Abraham, the promise of greatness is part of our heritance, it is every parent’s responsibility to ensure children are equipped and made available for this great promise; In this modern world where love of technology has taken away many people’s devotion from the word of GOD. How often do parents have time for family gathering with children, to discuss the word of God? How important do parent ensure they are available for things of God? How confident are parents that our attitude and reactions to things of the world are not putting these children in the state of dilemma?

Colossians 3 verses 21 says, “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged”.  I also learn from Isaiah 54 verse 13 that when children are taught by the way of the Lord, great shall be their peace. Most times, we parents rather force children to do things the way we seem right (in other to suit our own ways), but fail to acknowledge the fact that, there are hundreds of things to discourage or distract them; this proof that we can’t achieve anything by our own power but through the Holy Spirit and righteousness in them.

Ephesians 6 verse 4 also added “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord”; I looked at another meaning for the word exasperate in the dictionary, and it also means ‘frustrate’ or ‘annoy’, does this mean the Bible also recognises that children have emotions and this could be pushed to limit?

On the other hand, God commanded children in Ephesians 6 verse 2- 3 “Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth”

Conclusively, let parents not ignorantly release children to the world to reshape their destiny, but rather jealously guide them to reach their potential as leaders of the world.
